2017 has been an extraordinary year for the Girl Guides (GG). We started the year off on a high note with a Gold Award for the Puan Noor Aishah Award for 2016, a first since 2008.
This year is also a year full of exciting activities as Girl Guides Singapore celebrates her centenary. As part of the celebration, this year’s World Thinking Day was held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, where Girl Guides from all over Singapore gathered. There, the Guides had a picnic and took turns to tend to a booth where they taught the Brownies how to make their own handicraft.
One highlight of the activities in school would have to be the March Camp during which we introduced the outdoor component of Guiding. The Guides had fun learning life skills such as a tent-pitching and outdoor cooking.
Ultimately, the Girl Guide hopes to enable girls and young women to develop their potential fully as responsible citizens of the world, and we will continue to strive to meet that goal.
